Monnett

Monnett Elementary School is one of two elementary schools in the Rensselaer Central Schools Corporation. Our students come from the community of Rensselaer, Indiana, located just north of Lafayette, Indiana, and 90 minutes southeast of Chicago, Illinois.

Our school included preschool through first grade.

Visitors are always welcome! Visitors are asked to stop in at the office to sign in and pick up a visitor's badge.

Website visitors are asked to click on a link on the menu bar above to begin your virtual visit to our school.

Peanut Allergies

Monnett Elementary School is a PEANUT AWARE SCHOOL.  We have removed all peanut and peanut oil products from our kitchen area.

Monnett has students that have peanut allergies.  They can have severe life threatening allergic reactions.  If the students even smell peanut products, their throat and eyes can instantly swell shut.  This is a LIFE threatening allergy.

Peanut butter sandwiches, peanut butter cookies or peanut crunch bars in lunches can be eaten only in peanut zones.  When bringing class treats all items need to be PEANUT FREE.

A Note From The Principal...

Welcome to Rensselaer Central Elementary Schools!  I look forward to another school year at Monnett Elementary and Van Rensselaer Elementary.  These are exciting and challenging times for our schools.  Last school year we experienced growth on the ISTEP test, but there is still more work to do.  As we work to continually improve the overall educational setting at our elementary schools you will notice some small changes.  We are truly embracing literacy instruction and our daily schedules reflect this.  You will notice a few staffing changes, and some minor changes in the daily class schedules.  Overall, the administration and staff has been working diligently to provide the best possible, up-to-date education for our students.

You play a vital part in the educational process of your son or daughter and you are needed.  Their success relies heavily upon parental/guardian support and contact.  I encourage you to contact your son/daughter’s teacher frequently.  Please consider joining the Parent Teacher Association and stay involved with what is going on at our schools.

It is my goal that students will leave our building with the essential skills to be successful at their next educational experience.

Thank you, in advance, for all you do and will do to contribute to the success of RCSC Elementary Schools and our students. The staff is excited for a wonderful school year with many great educational experiences. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Andrew J. Jones,

Principal
